This year, daylight time begins on March 14 and ends on November 7th. Set your clocks ahead one hour at 2 a.m. local time so we can all spring forward. Then on Movember 7th, also at 2 a.m., set them back by one hour and we'll all fall back. And all this hoopla so we can save energy by taking advantage of the longer daylight hours? How come all those folks around the globe who are not even "plugged in" function quite well from day to day without a clock and without a thought to "saving energy"? They operate on pure sunlight. Personally love to watch the sunrise and sunsets regardless of what the clock says or whether I am saving time. As a child, I knew it was time to come in when the bats and the owls started their fly bys. During the summer it did not get really dark until close to 10 p.m. Then again, there is more than 11 degrees difference in latitude and more than 70 degrees difference in the longitude between Woodbridge, Virginia and my hometown. Just for fun... explore the data related to sunrise and sunset for any location on the globe at Earth Tools.
