About this time of the year, I fully expect to be showered with specials on back to school supplies or off to college, let's decorate the dorm room ads but Christmas in July? Christmas comes earlier every year... It is bad enough to see the retail giants push the normal shopping seasons steadily up the calendar each year. We noticed Halloween paraphenelia during our beach vacation last August. Cherubs and hearts replaced the tree ornaments and tinsels before the start of the new year! As a business owner, I should not raise too much of a rucus as I have to prepare for one of these merchandising "seaons" but that's another story related to a business of more than 30 years standing. However, as a shopper, it is difficult enough to keep up with the typical merchandising calendar so please, please let's keep the decor somewhat seasonal. Don't know about you but in no way can I personally get jolly, work up any kind of holiday cheer or remotely get in the Christmas spirit when the heat index is hovering above 100 degress. Let's see...we're on our 37th straight day of temps over 90 degrees, right? However, as much as I dislike seeing the entire holiday setup including decorations and seasonal music while sprinting from one air conditioned location to another, I have to smile at the advertised prices. Shop Christmas in July Let's see...you can always make your holiday gifts during the summer when crafting supplies are on sale during busy Joann and Michael's Craft Stores Christmas in July sales. Am I in my right mind? Is that ....really only $$$? Office Depot has a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" on select school supplies. K-Mart is all about shopping your way to rewards with 40% off back to school fashions and incredible deals on their "Campus 2010" sales event. Use coupon code KMART50FF50.
