Dillingham Square:
Dillingham Square, also known as the "Festival at Old Bridge" is just one of several shopping centers located along Old Bridge Road, in Lake Ridge. | ||||
It was perfect for the occasional Piper Cub or single engine charter.
The kids loved to watch the small planes take off and barely gain sufficient altitude to clear what is now the main entrance to Dillingham Square. Not only did the airstrip have a rather unusual approach, over the heavily wooded area that became Lake Ridge Park, it also required a steep climb to clear the hill at the end the runway.
In the late 70's, there was virtually nothing in the way of residential. shopping or commercial properties beyond Woodbridge High School, except the airport and the two lane "Davis Ford Road" to Manassas.
As with other shopping centers, many stores have come and gone since it opened.
However, if you live in Lake Ridge, the Dillingham Square shopping center is extremely convenient.
Formerly called Food Lion, the Bloom grocery store is no doubt the anchor store for this retail center. Wondering what they're offering in the weekly circular?

School & Office AnnexSchool and teacher supplies, office supplies and a Post Office contract unit too! As you walk in the store, the office supplies are located to your left while all school and teacher supplies occupy the rest of the store. The Postal Annex is located in the back of the store.
