Indian Cuisine at Masala Magic

This September, I took yet another trip down memory lane...right here in Woodbridge, Virginia.

A culinary trip that is - this one combining the best of southern Indian cuisine and Nepalese specialties.

Masala Magic Indian Fusion Restaurant and Bar is new to Woodbridge, Virginia.

Located at 14313 Potomac Mills Road, in the Potomac Festival Shopping center, they have yet to have a grand opening.

Judging from the crowd last night, they will quickly become a popular addition to our local restaurant scene.

Tables set with white tablecloths and neatly folded, cloth napkins make for a true "restaurant" atmosphere. The background music does not drown out a conversation.

The fresh, hot and peppery pappadams definitely whet your appetite.

They were incredibly authentic tasting and it was easy to picture myself back on the porch at the beach side restaurant in Madras.

Oops...just dated myself there. Madras is now known as Chennai.

Picking something from the extensive menu was quite a chore but it just means I'll be back for more.

Decisions, decisions - Last night, my initial choice was the Lamb Biryani, then I opted for the Tikka Masala or the Tandoori Lamb. In the end, I ordered my favorite Seekh Kabob and J. ordered the Goat Masala.

Both were well prepared, served up by a friendly staff and spot on in flavor.

We'll be back for more...
