One of our favorites was the huge Don Pablo's restaurant on the Prince William Parkway.
They disappeared from the Woodbridge scene years ago and the building stood empty until a few months ago.
But...you can still sample "bold" Mexican food at Don Pablo's in Alexandria. What we knew as Don Pablo's will soon be replaced by the Bungalow Alehouse.
As with Chinese food, there are many types of regional Mexican cuisine.
Each type of regional cuisine is based on different cultural origins, with distinctive flavors, spices and ingredients.

El Charro occupies what used to be a Wendy's, at the intersection of Dale Boulevard and Gideon Drive. The address is 2893 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA 22193-1117 (703) 680-0484.
Judging from the lunch and dinner crowd, it is a very popular cantina thanks to its authentic tasting Mexican food.
The portions are extremely generous, the margaritas are huge and their grilled entrees like the Parradilla are piled high on a sizzling hot platter, come with tortillas and a side order.
You are really getting your money's worth with that dish.
The chimichangas are covered in covered in creamy queso, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and a slice of tomato. All that for $7.00!

Many of these appetizers are large enough to be a meal but come hungry as these might make you forget that the El Charro menu is several pages long and does not stop with the appetizers! Oh...and did I mention their tub sized, incredible magaritas?

I'd make a meal out of the fresh guacamole and warm tortilla chips!
Our favorites include the fish tacos, the classic Chimichanga, and the fajita Quesadillas. Too bad they no longer serve the same sangria.
On the Border is popular and crowded, especially on weekends, when visitors to the Mall stop for dinner.

Uncle Julio's
Great food and superior atmosphere make for a memorable dining experience at the "Rio Grande Cafe".
Conveniently located in Potomac Town Center, right off I-95, Uncle Julio's offers fine Mexican cuisine in an authentic atmosphere. Whether you decide to eat inside the restaurant in a cantina styled dining room or the exterior patio, the food and the music will quickly carry you south of the border.
Los Toltecos
Colorful decor and Mariachi music welcome you to Los Toltecos restaurant.
The adobe walls are decorated with fancy Charro sombreros and the window treatments feature bright, fiesta colored serapes. Service is quick and friendly whether you choose to sit inside or outside on the terrace . The restaurant is located in the Glen Shopping Center off Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge. They serve great margaritas!
El Paso Mexican Restaurant
 El Paso's Mexican Restaurant, family owned and operated, is located at 3051 Golanzky Boulevard in Woodbridge, at the intersection of Golansky and Smoketown roads.

They offer weekly lunch specials between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and a 15% discount to military, police and fire fighters!
Chipotle
