Minnieland is #1!
by Keri
Minnieland is #1My family and I have been a part of the Minnieland family for 8 years, almost 9 years now. We started at the Infant and Toddler Center, but the majority of my daughter’s childhood has been spent at Minnieland #1, Dale City, Virginia. Minnieland is our second home and part of our family. They do so many services not only for the children who attend but also for the community as a whole. Minnieland is very supportive to the community as a whole and the families in many ways. One of the things we love most about Minnieland is their commitment to the children and to the families of the children. The teachers are fantastic, reliable, and easy to talk to. I always know how my daughter is doing. The staff is open and honest. They are also fair and understanding and willing to talk if a parent has a question. Lesson plans are always done in advance, so they are committed to making sure the children are ready for what is ahead. The staff is trained well to handle all situations, good or bad and they always handle everything in a way that is helpful and supportive to all involved. We love all the teachers, the director and the assistant director and respect them as well. They are child care givers but also part of our family. Another of Minnieland’s best qualities is the fact that the teachers have longevity of service. Many teachers have been there at least as long as my daughter, many of them longer. It is very important as a parent to have consistency with a caregiver, Minnieland provides that. They also definitely follow the model that is posted on all materials, Learning in a Loving Environment. The staff cares about and loves all of the children. If a child is upset about something, anything at all, the staff will try to help them, not many places will do that, and it’s one of my favorite qualities. In addition to teaching the children how to be good students when the go to school and how to work together, Minnieland also shows the children that it’s important to give back and this is an instance where everyone can see the support of Minnieland. Minnieland does food drives, pet food drives, clothing drives, in the winter they have a mitten and hat tree for under-privileged children. They also do the jar that we can put our loose change into or dollars or whatever we can give to help a charity. They also support our troops. Not only does this help the community as a whole, it is teaching the children about giving and sharing, which means that the community will always benefit from these children because as they get older they will remember that it’s the right thing to do. The quality of care at Minnieland is top notch. No place cares about the kids as much as Minnieland. Everything is always in order, everyone knows their roles as care givers to these children. My daughter is reading at a 6th grade level and she’s only in 3rd grade, this is because the staff at Minnieland have such a dedication and they really work hard everyday to encourage the children to be the best they can be. There is also summer camp, which while not part of the instructional year, the students are still learning about being healthy, taking care of their bodies, sharing, being good friends, etc. And from the school year through summer, all year long, the quality of care remains top notch. The children are provided wonderful food, and the cook is the best of the best and is like a second mother to my daughter. Good healthy food, exercise, caring teachers, lesson plans that are easy to follow, commitment to learning, and love is what every staff member at Minnieland provides. Minnieland is so very special to us. They are always supportive of the students and the families. So many things make them so special. The way they interact with the students is just so far above what so many other places do. I think one of the things that makes them so special is the fact that they work together, and part of the team work comes from the fact that they have all been there so long. They work well together, they have a system and it works. Another thing that makes them special is that they make it a point to get to know not just the children, but their families as well and that’s what makes it like a second home and that is what makes it special. They are always encouraging as well and very positive about everything. Their dedication to the children can’t be beat. They are all the kindest, understanding, reasonable people I have ever met. I recommend Minnieland to all my friends and family and I always tell them if they send their child to Minnieland #1 they will not only have a smart child but a second family. Minnieland #1, Dale City has so many good qualities, it’s often hard to choose just one to write about. I could go on for pages and pages about all the good things that the do for the families of Minnieland and of the Dale City Community. They keep the families informed, we get information not only on what is going on at Minnieland but also around the community, and in this tough economy, information about things in the community helps those other places, because we, the Minnieland families, tend to go to the places we have information on, if we get a coupon, we’ll use it and spend more, if we get a flier about child safety classes, chances are we’ll attend. They provide resources as well for anything we might need. In closing, I would say that Minnieland is the best daycare and before and after care center in all of Virginia, I may be biased because we’ve been there so long, but it is our second home. We love the staff, the students, and being part of the Minnieland family.
