Saint Patricks Day
by The Webmaster
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!T'will soon be time to celebrate your Irish heritage. Will you be wearing the green on March 17th? You know what they say... on Saint Patrick's Day, everyone is Irish and we believe everyone should celebrate this day regardless of the percentage of Irish you may or may not have in you. Saint Patrick's Day Parades and EventsThere are plenty of Saint Patrick's Day related events held around the Northern Virginia area. You can also attend several parades, including one in Manassas Saint Patrick's Day parade to take place on Saturday, March 12th. The event is free. Want the best place to review the parade? Check out the website for the parade route. Alexandria, Virginia is well known for their huge Saint Patrick's Day parade and the many associated events. The parade will be held this coming Saturday, March 5th 2011. The reviewing stand for this parade route is at North Royal and King Streets. Saint Patrick's Day SpecialsJust think of all the yummy specials appearing on various restaurant menus...its a good reason not to cook that night. Corned beef and cabbage dinners, lamb stews....just an idea to whet your appetite. Don't believe there's any Irish in me (although my DNA genealogy may prove me wrong)...but I've always been interested in my in-laws ancestral history as one side of their family came directly from Londonderry during the late 1600's and early 1700's - for reasons other than potatoes - and settled in Pennsylvania. This is also a nod to a very special person... He first set foot in Ireland at Cobh and then spent quality time in County Antrim 68 years ago to eventually become part of the D-Day invasion. Erin go braugh! Celebrate Saint Patrick's Day... ![]()
