Stress Free Holidays
by The Webmaster
The Family Christmas Tree
Stress Free HolidaysStress free holidays? Everyone tells me I still have plenty of time to organize for stress free holidays. Even now, when it's obvious that I have blown the first two weeks of the month of December. But, you know what they say. When you least expect it, all manner of "issues" break loose. One day, you imagine yourself having weeks and, the next thing you know, December is marching right along and you are left with only so many days to "get it done". Let's see...after reading this fun ebook, it is obvious that
So if I get into a holiday groove, tomorrow I will tackle the "indoor decor" and hopefully catch up gracefully.
It is as if with every passing year, the school year seems to get shorter, the summer is so busy that the first day of following school year arrives sooner than expected. The first teacher work day came quickly and before you know it, Halloween had come and gone and so did the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This year, time simply flew by so fast in the fall with everything we have to do to get organized for the holidays. It's official - there are too many holidays during the last few months of the year. But I have decided not to worry. Even close to mid-month, there are a few things we can do. 1. Layaway is back at Walmart! Depending on how old you are, you may remember the genius of layaway. You shop, leave everything in the store and drop off cash when you can. No interest. No credit card companies getting rich. Just you and the 90 days to make it happen or in this case...much less than 90 days. 2. I do not believe in removing favorite toys without checking first so with the kids, select the tired toys and clean out the playroom. Some toys have been outgrown, some are broken but teach the children to share by donating the toys they have outgrown. They already enjoy shopping for Toys For Tots so take it a step further by donating outgrown toys and clothes. 3. Call several friends with children the same age as yours or ask grandparents if they live close by. Watch each other’s kids once or twice during the season or pre-arrange to have Grandma sit with the kids while you go shopping. 4. New holiday pajamas a tradition? Buy them early. Right now is even better. Right after you read this post. 5. We found this unique idea last year and may actually do it this Christmas because now the kids understand the "why" of it. Buy a goat or a pig. If you can afford it, buy a cow. Join in the efforts of Heifer International. This amazing organization has been around since 1944. The premise of this organization is fabulous. As little as $120 will purchase both a goat, feed and training necessary to care for that goat. One little goat or a cow can supply a hungry family with over a ton of milk annually. They are even trained to turn the excess into cheese and yogurt to sell for a profit. It is truly a great gift. Let's help our neighbors too. Habitat for humanity, Doctors Without Borders. It is all much better than a Fruit of the Month club membership. Let's remember what this season is really all about...Peace on Earth and Good Will To Men.
