Sweet Potato Casserole


Potayto, pota-toe...no matter how you pronounce it, this casserole dish was a staple on Aunt Grace's catering menu.


In fact, she lost count of how many times her customers added "do you think you will have time to prepare the sweet potatoes?" regardless of the dinner menu. Think turkey...and all the trimmings.



Recipe: Grace's Sweet Potato Casserole

Here's the perfect "what can I bring" side dish for Thanksgiving dinner.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups of mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 stick of butter, melted3 cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


  • Mix all above ingredients together. Pour into a buttered baking dish.

    Topping
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup self rising flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup brown sugar


  • Melt the butter, stir in the brown sugar, add self rising flour then pecans.


    Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over the sweet potatoes.


    Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
