Occoquan River Scenic Overlook - Woodbridge Virginia

Things To Do - Places To See

There are so many things to do...in and around Woodbridge, Virginia.

You will find events to suit every taste, but what else is happening this weekend, this month? It's always good to plan ahead.

Do you have a favorite local event? Wondering where to hike, bike or test your golfing skills? We have beautiful golf courses right here in Woodbridge.

As Virginia's largest County Fair, the annual Prince William County Fair, held during mid-August, is a family favorite. We're deep into historical re-enacting so it's likely you'll find us checking out the Civil War encampments.

It is definitely one of our favorite things to do during the summer and, of course, the Prince William County Fair has something for everyone in the family.

Picking our own...apples, peaches, pumpkins and Christmas trees - it's been a family tradition for many, many years.

I've been into crafts for years and high on my personal "Things To Do" list is the Occoquan Arts and Craft Show held in June and September. The Fall show is the big one.

Naturally, there are many others events such as ball games and family reunions just to name a few. We'll be posting information about these and other events within short driving distance - right here.

We hope everyone will participate by adding to the listing and posting comments if you have visited any wineries in Northern Virginia or been up and away to view the Virginia countryside on Shenandoah Valley hot air balloon rides!

Wondering how you could announce a special event to a larger audience? Why not add to our listing of things to do in Woodbridge?

Simply add your local event to this page, detailing information of interest to all visitors.

In turn, visitors have can post comments, ask questions and submit reviews of their favorite events. Think of it as the "events" blog...a virtual Things To Do list.

If you have not yet gone virtual, this is the perfect place to test the waters. We're providing the elbow room.

  • Into crafts? Have a space at an upcoming craft show? Do tell...
  • Setting up a fruit stand at the Dale City farmer's market? I'd like to know...
  • Plan on doing the rounds of local garage sales?
  • Organizing a boat show at the Belmont Bay marina?
  • Putting on a show at the Lazy Susan Dinner Theater?

The Dale City Farmers Market

The perfect Sunday morning outing...

It's a family thing. We're always on the lookout for fruit and veggie stands. Last year, we even bought our Halloween pumpkins at a vegetable stand in Delaware.

Now, don't get me wrong. We do not make a habit of going that far to find a roadside stand.

But this farmer's market gives local farmers the opportunity to sell freshly picked fruits and vegetables. We've also bought baked goods, jams and even flowers.

Rain or shine, this market is opened on Sundays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from April through November 22nd. Where? On the Dale City commuter lot on Dale Blvd., next to Center Plaza Shopping Center.

The commuter lot is accessible from Gemini Way, the road which loops behind the shopping center.

How to get there? Click on the searchable Google map.

By the way, Occoquan also has a farmer's market.

It is held on the Mill Street parking lot on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon through November 14.

The Mill Street lot is right next to the Route 123 bridge over the Occoquan River. For additional information, please call [703] 491-1918.

A new event in Occoquan is the annual River Fest.
