Do you have a favorite local event? Wondering where to hike, bike or test your golfing skills?
We have beautiful golf courses right here in Woodbridge. As Virginia's largest County Fair, the annual Prince William County Fair, held during mid-August, is a family favorite. We're deep into historical re-enacting so it's likely you'll find us checking out the Civil War encampments.
It is definitely one of our favorite things to do during the summer and, of course, the Prince William County Fair has something for everyone in the family.
Picking our own...apples, peaches, pumpkins and Christmas trees - it's been a family tradition for many, many years.
I've been into crafts for years and high on my personal "Things To Do" list is the Occoquan Arts and Craft Show held in June and September. The Fall show is the big one.
Naturally, there are many others events such as ball games and family reunions just to name a few. We'll be posting information about these and other events within short driving distance - right here.
We hope everyone will participate by adding to the listing and posting comments if you have visited any of the wineries in Northern Virginia or been up and away to view the Virginia countryside on one or more of the popular Shenandoah Valley hot air balloon rides!
Wondering how you could announce a special event to a larger audience? Why not add to our listing of things to do in Woodbridge?
Simply add your local event to this page, detailing information of interest to all visitors.
In turn, visitors have can post comments, ask questions and submit reviews of their favorite events. Think of it as the "events" blog...a virtual Things To Do list.
If you have not yet gone virtual, this is the perfect place to test the waters. We're providing the elbow room.
The perfect Saturday and Sunday morning outing...
It's a family thing. We're always on the lookout for fruit and veggie stands. This farmer's market gives local farmers the opportunity to sell freshly picked fruits and vegetables. We've also bought baked goods, jams and even flowers.
Rain or shine, this market is opened on Sundays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from April through November 22nd. Where? On the Dale City commuter lot on Dale Blvd., next to Center Plaza Shopping Center.
The commuter lot is accessible from Gemini Way, the road which loops behind the shopping center.
Drive a few miles to Old Town Manassas and you have a large Farmer's Market. During the summer, we go on Thursdday mornings to find the best selection of everything from baked goods to vegetables, fruits and meats.
Occoquan also has a farmer's market.
It is held on the Mill Street parking lot on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon through November 14.
The Mill Street lot is right next to the Route 123 bridge over the Occoquan River.
For additional information, please call 491-1918.
A new event in Occoquan is the annual River Fest.
Here is the perfect Fall weekend getaway.

As Woodbridge, Virginia residents, we live barely over twenty miles from center city Washington D.C. - the nation's capital.
Needless to say, the sights and sounds of the city are ours to enjoy any day of the week, weekends and on holidays.
So why not become a "tourist" and leisurely discover the cultural heritage of Washington D.C?.
We remember it as the Smithsonian Kite Festival. Renamed theCherry Blossom Kite Festival, it is now associated with the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
The Kite Festival is one of the most popular spring time events held in the Washington D.C. area.
It has always been a perfect reason to head into the "city" and visit two of our favorite downtown destinations - the Smithsonian and the Air and Space Museum - and one of the "must attend" events of the year.
It has become even more fun now that we have two more boys in the family. They fly their kites on the beach, in the field behind their school playground, in their back yard...
We never tire of visiting the museums...participating in annual activities, as well enjoying the many things to do and see around the city.
The Newseum is located at Pennsylvania Avenue and Sixth Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. For additional information you can call 888/NEWSEUM (888/639-7386).
Going downtown for the 4th of July fireworks is a family tradition but we also have spectacular fireworks displays around Woodbridge, Virginia!
Speaking of Christmas...How about Christmas on the Potomac? Yes! It is another in the spectacular production by the Gaylord National Resort at National Harbor.
A fun thing to do during the holidays is to drive through the different neighborhoods to see the Christmas lights. Christmas on the Potomac events will surely become another seasonal tradition.
Dale Boulevard near Hillendale Road is a favorite spot but there are also sections of Lake Ridge and Montclair where residents definitely put on award winning light shows of their own.
Friends and family visiting soon? Kids get bored quickly. Here's a fun way to help them identify the sights. https://t.co/Z7mgOfXpzQ— De Ashton (@pwcliving) April 27, 2016
