Don't know about you, but I am suffering from serious cabin fever. With the temperatures inching their way up the thermometer, we welcomed these few warmer days. I am ready for more!

You know spring is in the air when you find announcements for flower shows and garden tours.

From Woodlawn to the Berkeley Plantation and the Wytheville Herb Gardens you are bound to find beautiful gardens of every description.

Start nearby with the blossoming of the Virginia Blue Bells at the Stone Bridge in Manassas.

Mark your calendar and take part in the Bluebell Festival at Merrimac Farm. This year, it will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2011, from 09:00 AM - 05:00 PMA. You can volunteer to help during the festival.

Year in, year out, there is nothing that compares to the National Cherry Blossom Festival. In spite of the cold and snow we've had, this year it starts on March 26 through April 10, 2011.

See the blossoming of thousands of cherry trees on the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC. The capital welcomes spring with this annual tradition begun by the gift of 600 trees to the United States from Japan in 1912. Don't miss the parade, kite festival, concerts, fireworks and cultural events.

It's the 78th Annual Virginia Historic Garden Week - During the week of April 16 through the 23rd, you can participate in what is the oldest "garden tour" in the country, by visiting the colorful gardens of prestigious private homes and public attractions such as Monticello, Montpellier and close in Mount Vernon. Tickets range from $15 to $40. You can even plan ahead as they've already announced dates for 2012 and 2013.

Don't forget the 2011 National Cathedral Flower Mart - an outdoor floral festival on the grounds of the Washington Cathedral at Wisconsin and Massachusetts avenues in NW DC, May 6 - 7, 2011 - Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Oh...and don't forget your cameras!
